Did you just get engaged? Your boyfriend FINALLY proposed to you & now you have to find the perfect place for your engagement photos?? Evansville has an array of options for engagement photoshoot locations. Here are my top 10 favorites that represent all styles from city chic to country-living.

1) Veterans Memorial Coliseum – Downtown Evansville
This place has the architecture of my dreams. The large columns & the stairs provide many opportunities to play with new poses. This is one of my most requested locations here in southern Indiana. Many of my couples getting married at Warehouse 410 or City View often even stop here during their wedding day for couple’s portraits or wedding party photos. It never lets me down!
2) Parking Garage – Downtown Evansville on the corner of Sycamore St & NW 6th street
Yes, its just a parking garage. But the views it offers of downtown are unmatched. I strongly recommend my couples bring props and such to play with (this classic car was PERFECT for this location). BUT be aware- this garage has security monitoring it at all hours & will 100% kick you out if you are leaving a mess or disrespecting the property or doing anything dangerous- please don’t ruin this location for everyone! And ALWAYS pay the entrance/parking garage fee out of respect of using the space. Sunset is definitely the best time for your shoot here. The sun typically sets nearly-behind the courthouse and its magical.
3) Bluegrass Creek – 15-20 minutes North of Evansville
For my couples looking for the laid back country- vibe. THIS is the place. Keep in mind, bluegrass creek is HUGE and there’s no one specific spot to just get out and take photos at. I would highly recommend exploring a bit before your photoshoot. There are a lot of little creeks/lakes here with large open fields and tall grass. But the ticks here are crazy- always always always bring tick spray and check yourselves after. I usually recommend coming here in the summer and early fall but never during rainy days. The fields can get flooded and super messy to stomp around in.
4) SWIMGA Display Garden
This spot is so stunning in late spring & throughout the summer. The sun hits just right on all the blooms and the colors are phenomenal. This spot is also becoming quite popular for photoshoots so be mindful of those around you & again- please don’t ruin it for everyone! The SWIMGA display garden is a short walking path that connects to the Evansville State Hospital Park
5) Entwined Bar
We had special permission to be here from the owners, but its always worth asking if you can rent the place for a quick photoshoot or come in when they aren’t busy! Entwined Bar has beautiful greens and classy cocktails.
6) Historic District – SE 1st Street
The historic district is probably the most versatile location Evansville offers. It photographs beautifully during any season. The historic homes, well manicured gardens, and cobblestone roads are straight out of your favorite hallmark movie. My clients looove getting their photos done here. It usually requires walking up and down a few blocks to find the best houses and lighting, but it is totally worth it.
7) The Old Courthouse
This Evansville staple is perfect for photos no matter what time of day. It is beautiful from every angle.
8) Local Coffee Houses
Honeymoon Coffee house is a popular spot for college students to study & many of my couples mention this is the spot where they met or went on many dates to. I love incorporating activities into the engagement photos & what is more cozy than snuggling up with your favorite latte? Penny Lane would also photograph super well if you have the opportunity! I would recommend reaching out to these spots ahead of time and making sure they don’t mind you taking photos there!
9) State Hospital Park
The State Hospital Grounds are really beautiful during spring, summer, & early fall. The lakes & pathways set the stage for a more natural background for your images. In my experience- it does not always have the most colorful/vibrant fall trees so I usually avoid it if that’s what my clients are looking to achieve, but it does have a few trees that turn pretty! Also there are geese everywhere so if you are scared of them, I would avoid this location altogether.
