There are some places in Indiana that are beautiful.
And then there are places that make you stop and think, Wait… are we still in Indiana?
New Harmony is one of those places.
Just a short drive from my home base in Evansville, Indiana, New Harmony has become one of my favorite places to photograph couples. With its historic architecture, quiet streets, beautiful gardens, mature trees, and European-inspired atmosphere, it feels like a little escape tucked away in southwestern Indiana.
As an Evansville wedding photographer who frequently travels to New Harmony, I have the privilege of photographing couples in some of the most beautiful locations our area has to offer—and Zack and Jade’s downtown New Harmony portraits are the perfect example of why I love this little town so much.
Their session was romantic, editorial, effortless, and absolutely breathtaking.

Zack and Jade’s New Harmony session felt like something straight out of an editorial spread.
Jade wore a stunning dress and veil from Magnolia Bridal House, paired with gorgeous florals from Jesse Jeanne’s, and the combination against New Harmony’s historic backdrop was perfection.
There is something magical about photographing a couple in a location with so much character.
Instead of a typical studio backdrop, New Harmony gives you layers upon layers of visual interest—the historic buildings, textured sidewalks, greenery, beautiful architecture, and soft natural light all working together to create photographs that feel timeless.
And then there’s the couple.
Because as much as I love a beautiful location, the photographs are ultimately about you.
Zack and Jade brought so much natural chemistry to their session. We could wander through downtown, stop whenever we found beautiful light, and create images that felt both polished and completely authentic to them.
That balance between editorial portraits and genuine moments is exactly what I love about wedding photography.

If you’ve been dreaming of wedding photographs that feel romantic, European, timeless, and a little bit different from the traditional Midwest wedding gallery, put New Harmony, Indiana on your list.
Seriously.
You don’t have to travel to Europe to get that old-world feeling.
New Harmony has an atmosphere all its own.
The town’s historic roots and architecture create a beautiful backdrop for editorial portraits, while the surrounding greenery and landscapes bring in the softness and movement that make photographs feel alive.
As a photographer, I love locations that give me options.
And New Harmony gives us options.
We can photograph you walking through the historic streets. We can use architecture for dramatic editorial portraits. We can find beautiful pockets of greenery for softer, romantic images. We can photograph your veil moving in the breeze. We can slow down and let you simply enjoy being together.
You can create an entire gallery that feels varied and intentional without driving all over southwestern Indiana.
That’s a pretty good deal.
When couples start planning a wedding near Evansville, they don’t always think about New Harmony.
That’s part of what makes it so special.
New Harmony feels like a hidden gem in southwestern Indiana—a place where you can escape the ordinary without actually having to travel far.
For my Evansville couples, this makes it an especially beautiful option for engagement photos, bridal portraits, elopements, intimate weddings, or even a portion of your wedding-day portraits.
And if you’re planning a wedding somewhere nearby, you can even consider incorporating New Harmony into your engagement session.
My approach to wedding photography has always been about finding that sweet spot between editorial and authentic.
My goal is to create photographs that look intentional and editorial while still feeling like you.
I want to give you the photographs that make you say:
“Holy crap. We look GOOD.”
But I also want the photographs that make you feel something years from now.
The way your fiancé looked at you.
The way your veil moved.
The way your flowers smelled.
The way your grandmother smiled during your first dance.
The ridiculous laughter between portraits.
The quiet five minutes you stole together after the ceremony.
Those are the photographs that become family history.
And that’s why I don’t believe your wedding gallery should be filled with nothing but perfectly posed photographs.
You deserve both.
The jaw-dropping portraits AND the real stuff.
The editorial images you want printed huge and hung above your fireplace.
The candid photographs your kids will someday look through and say, “That’s Grandma?”
The little moments you didn’t even know happened.
That’s what I’m looking for all day long.

One of my favorite things about photographing in New Harmony is that it never feels like you’re taking the same wedding photos everyone else has.
The historic streets, European-inspired architecture, gardens, and surrounding countryside give us so many opportunities to create something that feels completely your own. We can make the photographs polished and editorial without losing the candid, in-between moments that make your gallery feel personal.
That’s exactly what I loved about Zack and Jade’s session.
Their photographs feel elevated, but they don’t feel overly posed. The beautiful details—the dress from Magnolia Bridal House, the florals from Jesse Jeanne’s, and the architecture of downtown New Harmony—set the scene, but the photographs are ultimately about the two of them.
And that’s always my goal.
I want you to have the photographs that make you stop scrolling through your gallery because you can’t believe how beautiful they are, alongside the photographs that instantly bring you back to how that moment actually felt.
If you’re considering New Harmony for your wedding or engagement photos, I would love to photograph you there.
As an Evansville-based wedding photographer, I’m lucky to have this little piece of Indiana practically in my backyard. And after photographing in New Harmony, I completely understand why couples fall in love with it.
It’s romantic without trying too hard.
It’s historic without feeling stuffy.
And it’s close to home while somehow feeling worlds away.
If that’s the kind of setting you’ve been looking for, New Harmony might be your place.
And if you’re looking for the photographer to capture it all, I’d love to be yours.
